Cookies
‘Cookies’ are pieces of information that can tell a website whether it’s your first time visiting, or whether you’re a regular reader. They don’t contain personal information but if you feel that you don’t like the idea of cookies being stored on your machine then you can easily disable them through your web browser.
Log Files
Like many other web sites, the Lap of Tasmania makes use of log files. This is how we record when someone visits the website. The information inside the log files typically includes information like internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, the page you visited first/last and the page that referred you to the website. I can then use this information to analyse trends in how people are using the Lap of Tasmania website and to improve the user experience.
It’s really important to remember that this information is not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
Personal Information Privacy
Other than for routine processing (see below), personal information collected by me will only ever be sent to a third party with your explicit permission, or if compelled by law.
Routine Processing of Personal Information by Third Parties
The Lap of Tasmania uses third-party service providers to provide services to this website. Each third-party service provider’s use of your personal information is dictated by their respective privacy policies.
Services that I currently use include:
- Google Analytics – This tracks website usage and provides information such as referring websites and user actions on the website. Other than IP address, Google Analytics does not capture any other personal information.
- MailerLite – I use this service for sending newsletters or other emails. I store your name and email address so that I can deliver this information to you – but only when you have signed up and given your permission to receive these communications.
- MediaVine – I use this service to place advertisements within selected articles on the Lap of Tasmania website. More information regarding MediaVine is provided at the bottom of this page.
Opting Out of Communications
All emails sent by me to you will include a clearly identifiable ‘Unsubscribe’ link. By clicking on that link you will be removed from my email distribution list.
Alternatively, you can also request to opt out by sending me an email at: admin@lapoftasmania.com.au
Retargeting Ads
I occasionally engage in remarketing efforts with companies such as Google, Facebook, or Instagram to raise the awareness of the public regarding the Lap of Tasmania and to encourage people to visit the website. These companies use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s previous visits to the website.
Accessing or Removing Your Personal Information
If at any time you would like to understand more about the personal information that I store, or if you would like to me to remove your personal information from my systems, please send me an email at: admin@lapoftasmania.com.au
Cheers!
Andrew.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.
First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser’s cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser’s cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.
The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:
- IP Address

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements.
