Tasmania’s ‘Far South’ is a great place to spend a weekend – or even a week if you’ve got the time!
In the heart of this beautiful region is the seaside town of Dover, just 70 minutes’ drive from Hobart, and you won’t find any better accommodation than the multi-award winning Ashdowns of Dover Bed & Breakfast.
Gary and Lorraine are your ultimate hosts, taking immense pride in helping their guests to feel at home, while showcasing all the best sights, attractions and experiences on offer, just a short drive away.
Their hot English breakfasts are a real highlight, and not just for the delicious meal either – the views of Reeves Hill from the sun-drenched guest lounge are a lovely way to start your day.
After a day of bushwalking at Cockle Creek, or perhaps a descent into darkness at the spectacular Hastings Caves, Ashdowns of Dover will welcome you home with open arms.
Why not go for a lazy sunset stroll by the river and see if you can spot their resident platypus? Or how about experiencing the brightest Milky Way you’ve ever seen in your life with a cosy, crackling fire-pit at your back?

I love what they are doing to promote their local community, and I know you’ll leave with memories that last a lifetime!
Amazing service, very friendly and nothing was too much of an ask. Was able to not only cater to dietary needs (vegan) but excelled with a huge amazing breakfast and scones and tea on arrival. Lovely location, cosy fire pit and beautiful views.
